About the Performance
The Whitlams with orchestra, a career retrospective from one of Australia’s best-loved bands.
The Whitlams were the first Australian indie band to share the stage with the country’s finest orchestras, back in 2004, and the show has grown across twenty years as new albums brought new arrangements.
Frontman Tim Freedman’s friendship with the late Peter Sculthorpe is marked by two string arrangements, with full symphonic treatments from Benjamin Northey, Brett Dean, Iain Grandage, Daniel Denholm, Jamie Messenger and Nicholas Buc.
Classics like ‘No Aphrodisiac’ and ‘Blow Up the Pokies’ sit alongside songs from recent albums Sancho (2022) and Kookaburra (2024).
The Whitlams toured the show nationally with Australia’s symphony orchestras in 2026 (click here).
